Complex Trauma Therapy In California
With Gabriela Ucrós, LMFT
I grew up in a country filled with complex trauma. Treating it has been the cornerstone of my career.
Do you feel like you’re living the same emotional nightmare on repeat?
Do you know you’re not fully yourself?
Trust can be hard. Patterns will not break. Every day feels the same. Others question where the real them is.
Complex trauma shapes the nervous system, identity, and relationships. It’s not just one event, it’s what happened again and again.
Clients Come To Me For:
Insomnia
Anxiety spirals
Intrusive thoughts
Depression
Dissociation
Substance use
Eating issues
Trust problems
Low self esteem
Stuck in complex relational patterns
Your nervous system may still be stuck in an old wound, working hard to help you survive.
How Complex Trauma Therapy With Me Works
It’s incredibly healing to have someone witness your pain, sometimes for the first time. Starting by focusing on the therapist-client relationship is what helps repair attachment wounds. I treat our therapeutic relationship with profound respect and a sacred sense of responsibility.
We move at a pace your nervous system can tolerate, your safety and rebuilding your sense of autonomy is my priority. We process what happened while building capacity and flexibility in the present, to update your system, so you can start responding to life's complexities from a present perspective.
Modalities I Use
-
Witnessing and releasing trauma stored in the body, helping shift out of chronic survival states, into embodied presence.
-
Helps you understand protective parts and wounded parts so you can lead your life from a more authentic place.
-
Reprocesses traumatic memories so they lose their intensity and you observe them from an adult perspective.
-
Repairs relational wounds that impact trust and closeness.
This is deep work, but it does not have to be overwhelming. You don’t have to do it alone.
Live In The Present
You are not broken, you are responding from your wounding. Here you will be witnessed, accepted and honored in your unique necessities
After Therapy With Me, Clients Report
"Even though my work with Gabi lasted only one year, the therapeutic relationship was more transformative than 10 years of therapy with different people. Gabriela is sweet, intelligent, genuine, and human in the best possible way. She made me feel safe—secure enough to be honest and confront parts of my trauma that I was used to holding in secret. She taught me to see myself and to treat both myself and my inner child with compassion and love. I am deeply grateful for the time I had to work with her." - Former Client
Accepting the past + themselves
Seeing their history from a more compassionate lens
Stop feeling trapped
New, healthier patterns in relationship to themselves and others
Excitement about the future
Space for joy and pleasure
About Gabriela Ucrós, LMFT
My understanding of complex trauma is not just clinical; it is deeply lived and spans the globe. From Colombia, New Zealand to the United States, I have spent my life witnessing the many facets of the human spirit.
I have sat in the sacred space of end-of-life care, navigated the systemic complexities of incarcerated populations, and stood alongside disabled communities of children and their families. These diverse walks of life taught me that trauma never exists in a vacuum. It is always held within a culture, a history, and a lineage.
Living and working across borders has shaped my practice into one of radical cultural sensitivity. I bring an intersectional lens that doesn't just see 'trauma', it sees the whole person, their ancestors, and the societal structures they navigate every day. Whether we are untangling personal patterns or systemic wounds, I offer a steady, global perspective that honors exactly where you stand.
My approach is direct, steady, and compassionate. Clients often tell me they feel held accountable, yet deeply cared for. Together, we make tangible progress, supported by a spiritual lens that makes the therapeutic space more profound and transformative.
Outside of therapy, I have run multiple marathons and half marathons. I enjoy hiking and being in nature with my partner and our 8-month-old son. I love singing in choir, dancing, traveling and exploring new foods and cultures.
Availability: I work with clients in person in Santa Monica, and via Telehealth across California.
