About Me

About Gabriela Ucrós, LMFT
Somatic And Trauma Therapist, California

I have always been a witness to the depth of people.

My journey began in the therapy room at twelve years old, driven by a soul-level need to understand myself and the world around me. That early spark evolved from curiosity into a calling, it became my life’s work and soul purpose to hold space for the complexities of the human experience.

Today, I work with those who feel caught in cycles they understand intellectually but cannot seem to break. Many of my clients arrive with immense insight and self awareness; they know the 'why' of their pain, yet their bodies and nervous systems still react with the same old survival patterns.

This is where our sacred work begins.

My approach bridges the gap between the mind and the body. Real, lasting change happens when we move beyond intellectual understanding and begin to listen to the whispers of the body and somatic truths held within. I offer a space that is direct, steady, and deeply resonant, a place where your identity is honored and your growth is mirrored back to you with profound respect.

My Specialities

Many of the people I work with feel stuck between awareness and change.

They understand the pattern but cannot seem to shift it alone.

Therapy helps close that gap.

Availability: I work with clients in person in Santa Monica and via Telehealth across California.

My Approach

I believe symptoms are not random. Your nervous system is responding to experiences it had to survive.

When trauma or chronic stress happens, the body often holds unfinished responses. This can show up later as anxiety, numbness, emotional reactivity, insomnia, or feeling disconnected from yourself.

In our work together, we slow things down and learn the language of the body. When you understand what your symptoms are communicating,  and your system feels witness and held with compassion, it  can begin to release what it has been holding and make updates to help you build long lasting resiliency.

I draw from:

  • Somatic Experiencing

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS )

  • Eye Moment Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Attachment-Based Therapy

  • Psychodynamic Therapy

My Background

I studied psychology in Colombia and completed my Marriage and Family Therapy program at Northwestern University in 2020. Throughout my career, I have worked in a wide range of settings including programs supporting disabled communities, incarcerated individuals, end-of-life care, and community mental health.

These experiences shaped how I understand trauma and resilience across many different life situations.

I have also lived in Colombia, New Zealand, and the United States.

Living across cultures helped me understand how identity, belonging, and family expectations influence mental health. It’s one of the reasons I feel deeply connected to working with Latinx, intersectional identities multicultural communities.
